Alice is Missing is a silent role-playing game about the disappearance of Alice Briarwood, told entirely through the text messages your characters send one another. Nobody speaks at the table. For one evening you sit together in near silence, phones in hand, slowly piecing together what happened to a friend who is gone.
Designed by Spenser Starke, the game gives each player a character with a real connection to Alice: a sibling, an ex, a best friend, someone with a secret. As clue cards come into play and a shared timer counts down, the group uncovers the sleepy Northern California town of Silent Falls and the tangled relationships Alice left behind. The story is different every time, shaped by what you choose to reveal and what you keep hidden.
It plays in a single sitting, needs no preparation from the players, and uses no dice and no traditional game master. One player takes on a light facilitator role to set everything up, then joins the story like everyone else. The result is quiet, tense and surprisingly emotional, closer in feel to Life is Strange or Twin Peaks than to a dungeon crawl.
A good fit if you want: a self-contained mystery for one memorable session, a story-first game that welcomes players who are new to roleplaying, and an experience that lingers long after the last message is sent.
