Dialect - A Game About Language and How It Dies is a GM-less story game for 3 to 5 players by Thorny Games. Using cards, you collaboratively build the language of an isolated community - and watch it slowly disappear. No dice, no game master. Just story, and language as your engine.
Why do we love it?
Dialect turns something abstract into real emotion. When you invent a word together and then watch it fade as your community unravels, it genuinely hits. The game earned an ENnie Silver Award and the IndieCade Award for Best Tabletop Game - not because it’s flashy, but because it’s precise and deeply human.
