Your homeworld is gone. What is left of your people is aboard one ship, and somewhere out among the stars there has to be a rock worth calling home. A Perfect Rock is a tabletop roleplaying game written and illustrated by Nick Gralewicz, published by Deep Dark Games, about exploration, collaborative worldbuilding and the quiet hope that the next planet will be the right one.
It plays with one to four players, without a game master and without preparation. Each star you travel to has its own page in the book, and every planet you find is represented by a real rock, picked up in the garden, on the beach or during a walk. With a handful of six-sided dice you uncover the world layer by layer: its sky, climate, surface, flora, fauna and finally the secret it keeps beneath. Then the crew talks it over. Do you settle here, or push on? Between stars you spend downtime aboard the ship, getting to know your fellow explorers and the life you have built on board. A session takes two to five hours, and no two galaxies come out the same.
The book is a 64-page A5 Swiss-bound softcover in full colour, with the rules, the star pages, the planet tables and guidance for solo, duet and group play. All you add are a few d6, pencils and your own rocks.
A Perfect Rock suits groups who prefer discovery over conflict, solo players looking for a contemplative evening, and families: reviewers have used it to introduce children to roleplaying. It also makes a fine warm-up for a longer sci-fi campaign, since you leave the table with a galaxy of your own making.
Add it to cart - it ships from Leeuwarden, ready to go.
