The messages started on the new moon. The Conduit is a solo journaling game by Laszlo Tamasfi, illustrated by Jozsef Svab and published by Strangers From Nowhere, in which you play a medium who has begun receiving transmissions from somewhere that is not here.
The game runs for one lunar cycle: 29 journal entries, each shaped by a roll of a d10 against themed prompt lists. Entry by entry you record what the voice tells you, who around you starts to notice, and what the messages seem to be preparing you for. The setting draws on the real history of fringe belief, where spirituality and science fiction met: UFO contactee circles, hollow-earth mediums, New Age prophets with newsletters. By the end of the month you know where the messages come from, and you may wish you did not.
Alongside the writing there is a crafting element. The game asks you to cut, paste and collage from old magazines and books, so the finished notebook looks like it was kept by someone slowly coming apart. Play one entry a night for a month or several in a sitting. You need a notebook, a pen, a d10, scissors, glue and some printed matter you do not mind ruining.
The result is a 78-page paperback zine and, once you have played it, a piece of found-object fiction that works as a ready-made prop for any occult investigation game. It suits solo players who like slow-burn horror, anyone with a soft spot for the stranger corners of the twentieth century, and game masters after a handout their players will not forget.
Add it to cart - it ships from Leeuwarden, ready to go.
