Somewhere, someone has just said your name for the first time, and meant it as a prayer. Tales from the Gods is a solo journaling roleplaying game from the Mexican studio Axo Stories, designed by Alastor Guzman, Jaime Reyes Mondragón and Courtney Fancil, in which you play a god across the whole arc of its existence: from the first believer to the last.

The game runs on the prompt engine of Thousand Year Old Vampire, used with Tim Hutchings' blessing. Roll a d10 and a d6, subtract, and move through more than 120 numbered prompts. Each one is a myth your followers tell about you: a hero you raised or destroyed, a city that changed its rites, a relic lost to a flood. You track five things: Sagas, Skills, Relics, Characters and Symbols. Over the centuries the older ones fade, because that is what happens to gods. Whether you end as a figure of mercy or an avatar of ruin depends on the choices you write down.

Play is solitary and reflective, in sessions you can spread across several evenings. Optional rules let a group of friends build a shared pantheon together. You need the book, a d10, a d6 and a journal.

The book is a 120-page hardcover in full colour, A5 size, illustrated throughout by Halcabar el gato in a style rooted in Mesoamerican art. It suits players who have finished Thousand Year Old Vampire and want a bigger canvas, anyone drawn to myth and folklore, and writers looking for a game that produces a real story.

Add it to cart - it ships from Leeuwarden, ready to go.
