Settlers of a Dead God

We live on a dead God that is slowly decomposing. Its blood became the seas, its skin the land, its tears the rivers, and from the insects that first crawled across this putrid ground rose the insectoids: species with kingdoms, cults and questions of their own. Settlers of a Dead God is a setting book by Eduardo Carabano, illustrated by Francois Licata and published by Exalted Funeral, in which you play those insectoids and venture out across, and into, the corpse you call home.

The book is written for Old School Essentials and slots just as easily under most other OSR rules. Inside you will find the geography and history of the Dead God, its cities and kingdoms, nineteen new creatures, six playable insectoid species, new rules for stress and travel, a full description of the god's interior, and an introductory adventure, The Horn of Goliathus Regius, to get your table crawling. The setting was nominated for an ENNIE Award for Best Setting.

Expect a hexcrawl mood rather than a plotted campaign: mysteries about what the Dead God once was, factions that disagree about the answer, and expeditions into the interior in search of relics, raw materials and things best left buried. The tone sits somewhere between fantasy, horror and the pleasantly strange, carried by organic, alien artwork.
