Analogue: Duet - Playtest invitation

Dear reader,

This is an invitation, written the way this game is played: as a letter, to be read slowly, with time to think before you answer.

Analogue: Duet is a correspondence roleplaying game for two players. There is no game master and there is no table. You and one other person write letters to each other, in character, at a cadence you choose together - usually one letter each per week. The wait between letters is part of the game. A campaign at the shorter end runs about a season: twelve letters, six from each of you, over roughly three months.

We are looking for pairs who want to play the first version of this game and tell us what happened. You will receive the playtest booklet - the full rules, a starting scenario, and a short list of questions for afterwards. You play in your own time, at your own pace. When your campaign ends, or pauses, or breaks, you write to us about it. A real letter is welcome. A mail is fine.

What we ask of you: a second player, a weekly moment to write, and honesty afterwards. What we do not ask: experience with roleplaying games. Duet was written to be someone's first game.

If you would like to play, write to info@netherbook.com. Tell us who your second player is - or that you are still looking for one, and we will see who else is looking. We will send the booklet when the playtest opens, in September or October 2026.

Take your time. That is what the game is about.

Kind regards,

Frank
