Basic Roleplaying RPG: Universal Game Engine is a toolkit for game masters who want freedom. It is a flexible d100 ruleset from Chaosium that you can use to run almost any kind of tabletop RPG: classic fantasy, gritty sci-fi, cosmic horror, two-fisted pulp or even superhero stories. Because it is skills-first and genre agnostic, you do not have to learn a new system every time you change setting. The core stays the same: roll percentile dice, compare to your skill, and see what happens.
The book is built in modules. You start with the basics, then only add what you actually need for your campaign. Want more detailed combat or chase rules? Add them. Want psychic powers, magic, mutations or superpowers? Add those too. If you want to keep it light, you can.
What’s inside
- Clear percentile d100 system with difficulty levels and special successes
- Modular rules for combat, chases, injuries and pressure
- Optional powers: magic, psionics, mutations and superpowers

Why it shines
- One game engine for multiple genres and playstyles
- Real consequences and risk-reward that feels grounded
- Super easy to house-rule, hack and expand with your own content
Perfect for GMs searching for a universal RPG system, Basic Roleplaying, BRP or a Chaosium-powered engine that will not lock them into one setting.
